Abstract

A fairly pure and stable chromium hydroxide sol has been prepared by a slight modification of Neidle and Barab's method. The effect of pH on the true zeta-potential has been investigated. For rapid coagulation the true zeta-potential of the sol both for controlled and uncontrolled conditions of pH has been found to be 32.3 mv; while for slow coagulation the true zeta-potential found by electro-osmotic method is 39.2 mv and that by electrophoretic method is 39.1 mv.
