Abstract

While spreading of a computer virus in wired computer networks has been analyzed for different network topologies, a computer virus which spreads via a wireless link in an ad hoc manner has been found. Hence, it is important to investigate spreading of computer viruses over mobile ad hoc networks. In mobile ad hoc networks, spreading of viruses is affected by various factors such as the communication range, the velocity of a node, and the maximum number of hops. Furthermore, as opposed to wired networks, different mobility patterns cause various spreading patterns in ad hoc networks. In this paper, we investigate effects of topology of routes along which mobile nodes move on spreading of viruses as well as those of the above basic factors.
