Abstract
Space mapping (SM) and aggressive SM (ASM) techniques are widely used in the synthesis and design of microwave filters. Their popularity stems from the inherent simplicity of the procedures and from their effectiveness. The objective of this article is to extend the state of the art of these techniques by discussing how they can also be used very effectively to tune microwave filters. In addition to the theory, the successful tuning of a six-pole inductive waveguide filter is discussed in detail, thereby fully validating the proposed SM techniques.
