Abstract

The problem of sound propagation in a shallow sea with variable bottom slope is considered. The sound pressure field produced by a time-harmonic point source in such an inhomogeneous 3D waveguide is presented in the form of modal expansion. The equations for the modal amplitudes are uncoupled under the adiabaticity assumption. The mode parabolic equation theory is used to obtain an approximation for the amplitudes in the far field.
