Abstract

The article contains answers to the questions raised for discussion at the Russian Scientific Seminar “Ecology of Language and Modern Communicative Practices”, held in April 23-24, 2019 at the Siberian Federal University. Taking into account the growing interest of the world scientific community in ecological issues, and specifically, in the ecology of language and its various interpretations, as well as in the concepts of its subject area, the seminar organizers suggested the following questions (topics) for discussion: 1) linguoecology or ecolinguistics: identical or different?; 2) linguoecology and speech culture: distinction between the concepts; 3) substantiation of the subject field of linguoecology / ecolinguistics; 4) interdisciplinarity of linguoecology / ecolinguistics; 5) areas of linguoecological / ecolinguistic research in Russia and abroad; 6) relationship between ecology of language and linguistics of information and psychological warfare. The article provides a brief justification of the author’s point of view on the solution of the questions raised, except for the fifth one which requires a detailed analytical review. The author hopes that the discussion of these issues will continue on the pages of the journal.
