Abstract

The paper describes an effective mechanism for charmed particle production in neutrino and antineutrino reactions, which consists in production of charmed virtual vector F∗-meson in a weak vertex νF∗μ (without suppression by the Cabibbo angle) with further strong rescattering of F∗-meson on nucleon. This “quasidiffractive” mechanism should make the basic contribution to the production of charmed particles in neutrino experiments basic energies up to some hundreds of GeV. The charmed particles are mainly produced at limited momentum transfers |q 2| ≈ M 2 F ∗ and with equal cross sections in the neutrino and antineutrino beams.
