Abstract

Qualitative physical picture describing fast convective radial plasma transport in tokamak scrape off layer is suggested. It is based on the hypothesis of detachment of high density plasma blobs from the bulk plasma due to turbulence effects resulting in plasma stratification in the region around separatrix. These blobs extended along the magnetic field lines and having rather small cross-section in the perpendicular plane, propagate to the outer wall due to ∇ B plasma polarization and associated E → × B → drift.
