Abstract

By means of an iterative procedure the transport coefficients for a binary gas mixture of isobaric Maxwellian molecules can be calculated. The result is a power series in kT/mc 2. The first relativistic correction to the coefficients of diffusion and heat conduction appears to be of the order c −2. In contrast with the non-relativistic theory for Maxwell molecules the coefficient of thermal diffusion does not vanish: a quantity of order c −2 is found.
