Abstract

Relativistic quantum field theory (RQFT) predicts that at very small distances particles may travel with arbitrary speeds even greater than the speed of lightc. A recent study of the localization problem of massive particles in RQFT inspacetime and the novel expression obtained for the amplitude of propagation between different time-space coordinates are used to show numerically that at time of the order of 10−19 s after its creation a particle's speed does not exceedc in conformity with relativity.
