Abstract

I read with great interest the case report by Özer and colleagues (European Journal of Radiology 44 (2002) 37–39) in which the authors believe tracheobronchial amyloidosis (TBA) is the most common form of primary pulmonary amyloidosis. We have experienced several cases of primary pulmonary amyloidosis. But we do not think TBA has any predominance over the other types. With the doubt, we referred to some literatures on amyloidosis. A review in 2006 identified 95 cases of nodular primary pulmonary amyloidosis and 90 cases of TBA [ [1] Pitz M.W. Gibson I.W. Johnston J.B. Isolated pulmonary amyloidosis: case report and review of the literature. Am J Hematol. 2006; 81: 212-213 Crossref PubMed Scopus (28) Google Scholar ]. It meant that TBA might not be the most common type. Considering there are some sporadic cases of primary pulmonary amyloidosis which is hard to collect, we suggest authors not to emphasize which type is the most common one when it comes to primary pulmonary amyloidosis.
