Abstract

The presumption of a plastic break of the earth's crust causes the consideration of some aspects of the earthquake focus problem. It is suggested that the geological fault should be looked upon as slipping lines of Luders. The author points out a possibility of the fact that the heat released in the foci of large earthquakes influences the thermal conditions of the earth's crust. It is suggested that the zone of aftershocks should be regarded as that of residual deformations. Coincidence of the latter with the earthquake focus permits the study of it by investigating aftershocks.
