Abstract

Abstract The paper develops a method for automatic tuning of the PIB regulators parameter's which is called TID Self-Tuning Regulator ´(PID-STR). PID-STR are based on pole placement design and recursive least-squares estimation, the procedure of applying the method consists of (1) Given a desired transfer function. (2) Design PID-STR so that the closed-loop transfer function is equal to the desired transfer function. (3) Online estimates PID parameters by recursive least-squares method. The designed PID-STR were evaluated by simulation study of a ship's Auto Pilot. The results are compared with the Self-Tuning Controller (Clarke and Gawthrop, 1975).
