Abstract

In 1931 A. Betz and E. Petersohn has made theoretical investigation on the two-dimensional potential flow of water past an infinite row or grating of flat plates, when the so-called discontinuous state of flow is occurring. In order to use the result of this study, the Author has made approximate formula and charts for a range of values which is likely to occur in usual propellers. Utilizing these charts, the Author has estimated the performance of a propeller whose blades are under a state of fully developed cavitation. Comparison with some experimental results by L. P. Smith is also given
