Abstract

Elmar Zemgalis is the Acting Chairman of the Division of Mathematics at Highline Community College in Midway, Washington. He has taught at Seattle University and also worked previously in industry as an applied mathematician. Professor Zemgalis is the co-author of a text, published in 1969, on intermediate algebra. Standard texts in linear algebra discuss at some length the notion of invertibility of a matrix with n rows and n columns. Very little, if anything, is usually said about one-sided inverses of a matrix. The purpose of this article is to provide complete answers to the following questions:
