Abstract

An extended layerwise/solid-element (XLW/SE) method is developed for a stiffened laminated composite plate with piezoelectric patch, taking the debonding, multiple delaminations, and transverse cracks into account. The governing equations of laminated composite plates and piezoelectric patch are established based on the extend layerwise method, while these of stiffeners are modeling by using the three-dimensional solid element. The final governing equations are assembled by using the compatibility conditions and internal force equilibrium conditions at the plate/stiffener and plate/patch interfaces. The results are compared with those of 3D elastic models developed in commercial software, and good agreements are achieved.
