Abstract

Antenna structural design is a typical two-disciplinary one combined with structural and electromagnetic subjects. The deformation of antenna reflector will decrease the electrical characteristics of antenna, such as the increase in sidelobe level. The response surface method and the Coons divided-fitting method is applied to analyze the variation of performance of antenna with different employment condition. The mathematical formula of two methods is presented in the paper. Furthermore, three types of optimization model of antenna structure are discussed. The main structural variables influencing electrical performance are analyzed. A much large program for analyzing and calculating the electrical performance of antenna has been developed. An 8-m antenna design with multidisciplinary optimization is experienced with good results.
