Abstract

Charge carriers in cuprate superconductors (CS) are dilute and their Fermi energy ϵ F may possibly violate the condition ω 0⪡ ϵ F. Depending on the mechanism we suppose for CS, it is possible that the opposite condition holds in some cases. We reexamine Migdal's problem in this context. For this purpose, we reformulate Migdal's original discussion and apply the new formulation to two limiting cases, where the inequality ω 0⪡ ϵ F and the opposite limit ω 0⪢ ϵ F holds, respectively. We find that Migdal's theorem is also valid in the latter case.
