Abstract

The paper analyzes published experimental data of static and shock-wave experiments. When quantum state of outer electrons of solid atoms remains unchanged during compression, the data of static and shock-wave experiments are in a good agreement. Given phase transitions, different phase states can take place at the same density in static and shock-wave experiments. The electronic phase transitions or crystalline structure change can show up in the form of non-monotone dependence of characteristics (pressure, sound velocity, etc.) on compression ratio.
