Abstract
AbstractSoliton properties of kinks on dislocations allow a definition of natural standards for the measurement of length and time which are inherently related to the lattice structure. If dynamical processes such as wave propagation and the motion of screw dislocations are expressed in terms of standards of such a kind, Lorentz symmetries associated with sound propagation become evident.
