Abstract

The problems related to computer control of railway main-lines are of great importance for increasing transportation capabilities. The control system acts mostly like a programmable controller following a predefined time-table. A problem arises in the case of some disturbances in trains movement. In most systems disturbances are handled in an off-line process called train schedule adjustment.Other possibility is to handle all disturbances on-line in a closedloop control system. The goal of this paper is to present a formal model which facilitates the planning of train movements, resolving of conflict situations, automatic route-setting for trains and development of a data base for a computer control system. The model utilizes complex train priorities and is based on two-level structure of the control system.
