Abstract

Abstract Accurate mathematical models of aircraft aerodynamics find their use in flight simulation, automatic flight control and aircraft operation. Unknown parameters In these models can be extracted from flight test data by means of a variety of system identification techniques. This paper shows how on-line aerodynamic model identification has become feasible by applying algorithms based on a decomposition of the state and parameter estimation problem and high speed multi-processor computer systems. Results from a recent flight test program are presented.
