Abstract

A comprehensive chemical model is applied to Titan's ionosphere in combination with a three dimensional magnetohydrodynamic model of the plasma flow in Titan's vicinity. The calculation shows that in the wake region the ionospheric plasma should concentrate in a thin sheet of a vertical thickness of 0.1–0.2 Titan radius. The major ions are and . These carbon‐ and nitrogen‐based molecular ions can be used as a tracer of the magnetospheric dynamical processes.
