Abstract

The analyses of ring compression with barreling, spread in Steckel rolling, and thickness change in tube sinking were carried out in an attempt to explore Hill's general method for the analysis of metal-working processes. The results were compared with those by other theories and with experiments. It was shown that the results are good, but as applied to our three particular problems the method yielded “little improvement in values calculable by other methods”.
