Abstract

An attempt is made to understand the new features of the photoeffect in the frame of Willkinson's theory with the additional hypothesis that directiy photoemitted nucleons have to be observed, on the average, with the energy of the virtual shell model state whose properties their motion shares just before they leave the nucleus. The further assumption is suggested that the virtual level spectrum has the same features of the shell model one. (A.C.)
