Abstract
Since energy problems and environment problems are becoming more and more serious, sustainable transportation seems to be more and more important. In all of the sustainable notions, the Green Transport and Low Carbon Transport are the most popular. As to how to realize green transport and low carbon travel, this paper first illustrates the concepts and connotations, the interrelationships and differences of sustainable, green, and low carbon transport. It then discusses the relationships between them and analyzes the low carbon potentialities of transportation. Finally, based on Chinese national conditions, the paper proposes some suggestions for developing a resource-conserving, environment-friendly transportation industry and establishing a green transportation system characterized by low carbon.
