Abstract

The sliding motion of a quantum nonrelativistic charged particle near a flat surface of a solid body is considered within the framework of the effective potential approach, which consists of the interaction of the particle with surface atoms and excitations, i.e. within the framework of the so-called surface channeling formalism. We have demonstrated that the imaginary part of this potential is amenable to classical interpretation. A detailed analysis of the angular scattering of a positively charged particle is presented, including surface channeling requirements.
