Abstract

The article discusses the depictions of gun violence and black women and men in the motion picture Chi-Raq directed by Spike Lee in relation to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control Web-based Injury Statistics Query and Reporting System regarding gun-related homicides in America. Gang violence and sexual behavior by black women in the U.S. are examined, along with the Black Women’s Health Imperative organization.
