Abstract

Considering the need of quality engineers and scientists in industry, a generalized lifetime performance index (GLPI) has been defined by taking into consideration the median of the process measurement. GLPI ordering of process variable has been defined and some results have been discussed. The proposed index has been calculated for the Lindley distributed lifetime measurements. The maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) and the minimum variance unbiased estimator (MVUE) of the proposed index have been derived and compared with the estimators (MLE and MVUE) under the exponentially distributed lifetime measurements through simulation study. A testing procedure for GLPI has been discussed. Parametric bootstrap confidence intervals have been considered. A real data set has been analyzed to illustrate the proposed performance index.
