Abstract

A new platform for magnetic measurements at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) is presented. The key concepts and the architecture of its main components, a multi-purpose digitizer (fast digital integrator – FDI) and a flexible software framework (flexible framework for magnetic measurements – FFMM), are detailed. The experimental results of the metrological characterization of FDI exhibit a significant advance with respect to the state of the art. Furthermore, the FFMM implementation is shown to provide a reusable and scalable measurement software. Finally, the results of the on-field validation of the platform for field measurements on superconducting magnets in the CERN test facility are discussed.
