Abstract

Kirk and Xu introduced the concept of pointwise eventually nonexpansive maps and raised the question: “Does a Banach space X have the fixed point property for pointwise eventually nonexpansive mappings whenever X has the fixed point property for nonexpansive mappings?” Butsan et al. proved that nearly uniform convex Banach spaces have fixed point property for pointwise eventually nonexpansive mappings. In this paper, we prove that X has the fixed point property for pointwise eventually nonexpansive mappings if X has uniform normal structure or X is uniformly convex in every direction.
