Abstract

The study of anxiety in foreign language learning has attracted great attention of researchers in recent years. The paper adopts two questionnaires for a survey on listening anxiety with 100 students from Changchun Institute of Technology as the subjects, and the study uses Microsoft Excel to analyze data. The results indicate that the subjects do experience English listening anxiety at a relatively higher level. It mainly arises from individual characteristics, listening process characteristics and text characteristics. Finally, the paper gives five countermeasures for teachers to help students reduce their listening anxiety.
