Abstract

It is shown that an appropriate and systematic use of a well-defined set of collision variables allows a straightforward, concise, and comprehensible presentation of typical transformation results; e.g. Boltzmann's collision term, its adaptation for electrons in a cold gas, and Enskog's symmetrickernel form for the linearized equation. It is also shown how the Allis and Allen form of the left member of Boltzmann's equation (suitable for cases with cylindrical symmetry) can be given a correct derivation and interpretation.
