‘On Camps, past and Present’*

Abstract

This article reflects on the experience of writing a book about the history of refugee camps in Britain during the global refugee crisis. It explores the relationship between camps of the 20th and 21st centuries, and considers the role of historians in participating in debates about contemporary political issues.
