On building the architecture of the intelligent transportation system in the Arctic region

Abstract

The development prospects and improvement of the transport and logistics system in the Arctic region imply intellectualization at its various levels using innovative technologies. The article summarizes the most significant problems related to the development of the Arctic region and gives an assessment of the freight traffic flow increase. It also provides an overview of autonomous underwater vehicles and intelligent control systems used in modern autonomous ships on particular missions. The analysis resulted in the development of the architecture of the maritime intelligent transportation system in the Arctic region that integrates the existing state-of-the-art concepts of autonomous shipping, autonomous unmanned vehicles, maritime unmanned navigation, and commercial autonomous shipping. The article describes the advantages of the developed architecture of the intelligent transportation system in the Arctic region.
