Abstract

The relativistic effect on the binding and dissociation of a heavy quarkonium in a thermal environment is stressed. The calculated result shows that the effect may affect both the spin-averaged properties and the fine and hyperfine splitting of the system considerably. It is expected that the present predictions for the thermal properties of the heavy quark resonances could be tested by future experiments at RHIC.
