Abstract
In his letter from the Chair, Alan Frankland states that counselling psychology is now the second largest division in the British Psychological Society (Frankland, 1998). This was not always the case, so please join me on a brief trip down memory lane. In this article I chronicle the process from conception to birth of counselling psychology within the Society.
