Abstract
Atomic K- and L-shell Compton profiles for MoKalpha radiation are studied within the framework of a form-factor approximation by using screened hydrogenic wavefunctions. Numerical results presented for the lack of symmetry in profile values about q=0 (q is the usual Compton parameter) for atoms from He to Ar are used to examine the quality of a recently proposed approximation method for correcting the impulse double differential Compton cross section.
