Abstract

Various relaxation mechanisms for long range impurity states in magnetic crystals are considered within a microscopic approach. It is shown that the homogeneous broadening of the impurity level may have a complex non-monotomic dependence on the level position with respect to the magnon band edges and the inhomogeneous one may lead to a sharply asymmetric line shape. The possibility to obtain information on interaction mechanism details in the host crystal by studying the relaxation of impurity excitations of the mentioned kind is pointed out.
