Abstract

Based on Stroh's formalism for anisotropic plane linear elastostatics, an explicit linear relationship between the stress field of a line force and the displacement gradients of a straight dislocation is deduced. This reciprocal relationship had been derived previously by the present authors from arguments based on thermostatics (Moutier's theorem) and Betti's theorem of linear elasticity.
