Abstract
We present a mathematical model to describe the interaction of ice-ocean-plankton in the Southern Ocean, based on a similar model used for blooms in the estuaries. The model obtained is hyperbolic and wave phenomena may be studied. Travelling wave solutions are related to the formations of blooms.
