Abstract

The present paper follows the method introduced in the seminal Census of Owen Gingerich, and describes three annotated copies of Copernicus’ De Revolutionibus princeps edition. One of them was totally unknown in the literature, being absent from the catalogue of its owner (the Library of the Romanian Academy, Cluj-Napoca Branch). The copies discussed here are rich in annotations, one of them being comparable with the most annotated copies described in the Census. The thesis advanced by Owen Gingerich about the continuity in the reading of Copernicus’ book is again confirmed. Details of the annotations are presented, and their images are for the first time shown in a specialized publication.
