Abstract

We prove that the solutions of a nonstandard mixed problem of elastodynamics in an unbounded domain satisfy the basic theorems of elastodynamics provided the elasticity tensor is strongly elliptic and the acoustic tensor satisfies the hyperbolicity condition. We also give a counterexample showing that our results are sharp.
