Embedded in the concept of theory-into-practice in education is an analogy with theory-into-practice in the natural sciences. The natural sciences explain events in nature by laws whose operation is indifferent to human volition but useful when incorporated in practices that exploit their operation for human purposes. By the analogy, educational theory should explain educational events by laws that will insure the success of educational practices that are derived from them.
