Abstract
We give a simple expression and a simple derivation for a class of rational functions in Fq(X) which induce functions Fq∖S→Fq that are m-to-1 for some small set S. Previously these functions had only been expressed as sums of several rational functions, and their properties had only been proved in special cases via complicated methods.
