Abstract

We present a quadratic characteristic (QC) method for solving the SN neutron transport equation. In this QC method, the SN equation is integrated analytically on each gird point based on the method of characteristics, in which the scattering source and the cell boundary incoming angular flux are approximated with second-order polynomial functions, respectively. Numerical experiments show that the QC method is very robust and can achieve second-order accuracy and it possesses the asymptotic diffusion limit.
