Abstract

The substitution of cobalt, iron, aluminium or manganese in the reference intermetallic LaNi5 allows considerable modification of the conditions for the absorption-desorption equilibrium of hydrogen. By using these systems in the hydrogenation of propene, we observed a correlation between the catalytic activity and the stability of the hydride. This effect has been related to the existence of the α-phase, as propene leads to β-phase inhibition.
