Abstract

This article presents the results of a research study of 12 older women who achieved eminence in their respective fields after the age of 50. Qualitative methodology was used to investigate the lives of these women and to develop a model of talent realization in women which includes the following factors: abilities, personality traits, environmental factors, and the perceived social importance of their talent, merged into a combined belief in self and the desire to develop their talent. The model is presented in this article as are three case studies that illustrate the factors.
