Abstract

The activity coefficients of 1-octanol and 2-octanol in benzene at 20°C are reported here. These have been combined with literature data and used to estimate the 1-octanol-water partition coefficient for benzene. The value of 1200±100 on the mole-fraction scale agrees well with the literature value of about 1200.
