Abstract
It highlights different needs of modern machining technology and finishing methods in the field of advanced manufacturing. It includes the chronological development of machining starting from the prehistoric age up to the present days. The chapter also covers the usefulness of advanced machining technology considering major motives. This motivates the manufacturing engineers as well as scientists to adopt all the modern machining and super finishing processes.
