Abstract

The work is a study of the environmental pollution experienced in Eastern Obolo (Andoni) due to the exploitation of crude oil and gas for four decades. It documents four processes of extracting crude oil through which pollution emanates. Others are the adverse effects of oil extraction on the traditional economies and social practices as well as the health hazards it engenders. Owing to the negative impacts, the paper proposes projects for sustainable economic and social developments of the oil devastated Eastern Obolo (Andoni).
